Buffalo Ranch Grilled Chicken Sandwiches
Ingredients
- 4 chicken breasts boneless, skinless
- ½ cup buffalo sauce
- ¼ cup ranch dressing
- 4 hamburger buns
- lettuce leaves optional
- tomato slices optional
- 4 slices cheddar or provalone cheese optional
- salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Marinate the Chicken. Place the chicken breasts in a large resealable bag. Pour in the buffalo sauce and ensure all the chicken gets coated. Seal the bag and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat the Grill. Set the grill to medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grates to prevent sticking.
- Grill the Chicken. Remove the chicken from the marinade and season with salt and pepper. Place on the grill and cook for 6-7 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked. If using cheese, place a slice on each chicken breast during the last minute of cooking to let it melt.
- Prepare the Buns. Lightly toast the buns on the grill for about 1-2 minutes.
- Assemble the Sandwiches. Spread ranch dressing on the bottom half of each bun. Place a grilled chicken breast on top, followed by lettuce and tomato slices. Top with the other half of the bun.
Grilling Tips
- Even Thickness: Pound the chicken breasts to an even thickness. This ensures they cook evenly and stay juicy.
- Marinade Time: Marinate the chicken for at least 30 minutes, but if you have time, let it sit for a few hours. This gives the flavors more time to soak into the meat.
- Preheat the Grill: Always preheat the grill before placing the chicken on it. This helps create a nice sear and prevents the chicken from sticking.
- Don’t Overcook: Chicken can dry out if overcooked. Aim for an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) to keep it moist.
- Rest the Chicken: Let the chicken rest for a few minutes after grilling. This helps the juices redistribute, keeping the meat tender.
Sandwich Assembly Suggestions
- Customize the Heat: If you prefer a milder sandwich, mix buffalo sauce with a bit more ranch dressing before marinating the chicken.
- Add Extra Crunch: Consider adding pickles or coleslaw for a crunchy, tangy bite.
- Toasty Buns: Lightly toasting the buns on the grill adds a nice texture and keeps them from getting soggy.
- Cheese Selection: Choose a cheese that melts well. Cheddar adds sharpness, while provolone offers a mild, creamy flavor.
Serving Tips
- Side Dishes: Serve with cool, creamy sides like potato salad or coleslaw to balance the spiciness of the sandwich.
- Extra Sauce: Have extra buffalo sauce and ranch on the side for dipping or drizzling over the top.
